  1. OS X MDM Support

Our company is comprised entirely of iOS and OS X devices, and it would be great if we could use DeviceLink to support both platforms. Specifically we would need to set screensaver password settings, be able to lock and wipe devices, ensure encryption is enabled, and push some basic settings like WiFi passwords and mail accounts.

  2. Push Web Clips and other Configurations

It appears when I add a new web clip that it does not push out to all of the devices, but when I delete a web clip, they are removed from the devices. Would be nice to have a button to push configuration changes as a whole, or even individual configurations out to devices so we know that it is happening.

In certain situations, iOS will not remove webclips from the home screen until the device is restarted. This is independent of MDM. We agree that it’s frustrating. You should receive a notice in SimpleMDM when this is potentially the case.

  3. Allow multiple email adresses (aliases) per email account

When configuring an email account for a device, the form disallow commas in the "email address" field. This is problematic when configuring aliases for the email account.

The syntax used in iOS configuration profiles is a list of adresses separated by commas. I did not find any official documentation on this, but this is supported by profiles created within Apple Configurator 2, and it used to work for us with AirWatch.

For example, allowing such values as :

    [email protected], [email protected]

    would solve the problem.

  6. Make tableview sotable

option to click on the header of a column and the table gets sorted by the chosen column. A second click inverts the sorting. E. g. to which app used the most space or you see which apps are managed or or not.

  7. Don't ask for 2FA token for every login

Every major service implementing 2FA has the ability to mark a computer as "trusted" so the service does not asks for a new token each and every time the user logs in.
I love the added security provided by 2FA, but getting my phone out multiple times a day to log into SimpleMDM is quite tedious.

I'd love for SimpleMDM to have the ability to remember I already logged in from my computer and only ask for 2FA on this device every few weeks instead of every connection.

  8. Add single app mode

Make it so the device you are managing can get locked into a certain app no matter what they are doing, like Cisco Meraki.

SimpleMDM already supports single app lock. You can access it from Group Details > Configurations.

  9. Basic User Access to Devices

Give basic abilities to users without giving them abilities to make Admin changes to all devices. Basic things like delete/send down apps or rename a device. Not much passed that though.

  10. Accept XML uploads in order to create custom App Configurations while pushing Apps.

In order to have specific fields included when an app is first pushed, XML files and custom configurations for apps would be much appreciated.

  11. Update Apple Store Apps.

Can't Block or Allow Newer Apps. Such as the "TV" app from Apple. There are more I'm sure. This Needs to be updated more frequently. iOS 10 and up. Also, I would like the ability when creating Custom Screen Layouts for Devices to Have Access to or Pull in Apps that May not be in the App Store, but they are on our Devices or in their Listing. This way we can be more thorough with our Security and other protocols.

  12. Support SAML authentication for Single Sign-On

Having options for increased authentication security is greatly appreciated, and for our organization, is basically a hard requirement for IT systems (and is used everywhere else if at all possible).

Having support for SAML in SimpleMDM would significantly increase our interest in using it. Anything that allows you to control company-owned devices should be extremely secure - SAML lets us use our own Identity Provider and control general access, login policies, multifactor requirements, and more.

Preferably, the implementation would allow for JIT user creation, or even better, user creation & deactivation provisioning options (preferably via SCIM).

    For reference, we use…

  13. Include Group in Devices CSV Export

It would be handy if the CSV generated by 'Export Devices' included a column with the SimpleMDM Group it belongs to.

  14. Custom Fields

I would like the ability to have custom fields, more than just a notes field. Ideally would like at least "Assigned to", "Asset tag #" so this information can be exportable. The notes field works, but multiple custom fields would be much more useful.

Custom Attributes are now available in SimpleMDM. This allows you to define fields and assign values on a per-device basis. This information is exportable through the API.

  15. BYOD security

a feature to remove the viewing of personal device infomation and actions that effect data outside of managed apps (BYOD)

  17. Automatically Sync with Apple DEP

Please add an option to allow "Sync with Apple" to happen without admin interaction. Ideally this would sync daily with Apple's deploy.apple.com service. In our environment we purchase from an authorized reseller so they automatically assign the serial numbers to our account and we would ideally like this to sync with SimpleMDM without admin interaction.

DEP accounts are now automatically synced every three hours.

  18. Persistent settings (group) on re-enroll of device

We'd love to see devices automatically re-assign previous settings when the device is re-enrolled. Currently, if a device is in SimpleMDM and gets erased/wiped locally, the device will re-enroll and be placed in the "Default" group, most settings are lost (Except Device Name).

It would be useful if a device that gets re-enrolled would automatically appear in the group it was previously in rather than the default group.

  20. Setup a role option to only have access to view/rotate FV PRK

We have techs that need to access the FV PRK for troubleshooting purposes and also rotate the key if they view/use it. The current Role options are too broad and give access to other features that the techs shouldn't have access to.

I'd like to see a user Role option to allow only the rotation of a FV PRK and not the the rest of Push assigned apps and updates. Wipe, lock, remove passcode, locate, and message devices. Enable and disable lost mode for devices. Checking the box for that Role option gives me the rotation option but I don't…

This is now possible with the "Allow secret information visibility" options for User Roles.
