subscribe a device to multiple groups
Allow a device to be a member of multiple groups to inherit additional configuration profiles from each group

This is now available with the use of assignment groups.

This exact thing is pretty much what is blocking us from pivoting from self-hosted Munki into the SimpleMDM one. We use nested manifests a LOT to avoid having to hand-craft a bunch of configs, and nested groups or multiple groups would fix that problem.

This would be a welcome addition.
We have different WLAN SSIDs depending on department and location. And different power settings depending on the role and more small differences. You can quickly get to 50+ groups. -

Agreed. This is currently possible with Apple Profile Manager and many other MDMs.
One use-case: if we have 5 different device roles requiring different settings and apps and we also have 10 different locations requiring some different settings, we will need 50 device groups - one for each role/location combination, rather than just 15 device groups when we can assign a device to both.
