SimpleMDM granularity
Hi SimpleMDM Dev Team:
Thank you for allowing this space to share creative thought in the ongoing development of SimpleMDM. May some of my ideas have already been discussed, maybe not-- regardless I trust this will be taken into consideration.
Since the slow death of Apple's Profile Manager has left very little control to us in IT as Admins and Engineers, it would be nice to see SimpleMDM pick up the slack and not just fill in the gap but lead with the innovation of a few things in the macOS platform so that many of us can continue to manage Mac systems well. My areas of focus are:
*System Preferences - Management specifics (e.g., energy saver, security & privacy, network, Bluetooth, sharing, Time & Date, Time Machine, Users & Groups, Directory Access)
*Finder - Preferences Management (e.g., General tab, Sidebar tab, Advanced tab)
*Printers - Protocol Management for LPD, HP, Canon, Xerox, Lexmark, Ricoh.
*"Simple Addpkg" (much like JAMF's quick add package) allowing the user to click on a connecting link from the SimpleMDM Console that will add selected packages to the users Mac from wherever their system connects across the network.
I know this is a lot, but you're already on the cutting edge with many other MDM solutions, but you are the cleanest I've seen.
Keep up the great work! Let me know if this is helpful or if I can communicate better ideas from both Admin-level or Engineering-level.
Cheers,
Mark
