Can I automatically install an app and enable single app mode at enrollment?

Apple iOS does not currently allow apps to install or update while single app mode (or lock) is enabled on a device. Furthermore, Apple iOS does not currently alert SimpleMDM once an app has successfully installed. As a result, SimpleMDM does not have the ability to automatically enable single app mode once the necessary app has been installed.

The suggested workaround is as follows:
  1. Create an initial device group for devices to enroll to. This group should be configured to automatically install the necessary iOS apps upon enrollment.
  2. Create a secondary device group that has single app mode configured.
  3. Once a device has enrolled and has the necessary apps, reassign the device to the secondary device group to enable single app mode.
