  1. Enable complete location history

The location history shown on the map only appears to show the last 24 hours for the device. I would like to be able to download a complete history for a time range. The system is already collecting a brief history, it seems it would only be a small mod to enable a longer history, perhaps downloadable.

  2. report on mac model, installed ram and cpu type

The plan is, we'll be populating an asset management system with our MDM data... and the team setting it up would like this data tracked too

Not sure if the MDM API allows for gathering this information - but it does - this would be really helpful for us.

    Thanks

    Steve

  3. Location for macOS

Similar to how you push an app for iOS location, it would be nice to have a headless macOS app that did the same thing. Or perhaps a menu item of some sort.

  5. Implement a self enrolment portal for end users

I would like to be able to get users to simply enrol in SimpleMDM through a URL, similar to JAMFnow enrolment portal.

This is a very simple way to boost enrolment on user side and allows administrators to easily enrol devices on the go. No longer remembering long enrolment URLs.

    JAMFnow workflow
    User goes to company.jamfnow.com
User is provided with dropdown list of available groups to enrol in
User is prompted for first name and last name
User is asked to enter a passcode (set by admin)
User clicks enrol and is now provided with relevant profile

    Must have features:…

  8. Add directory services integration (LDAP/Active Directory)

For enterprise, integration with directory services is essential. I need to be able to target machines and devices for actions and reporting based on an assigned active directory user and/or the user's groups.

This should include enrollment, targeting for policies, targeting for package deployment, etc.

I see there might be some initial work being done in the Configs -> Providers menu, but as is, it is not enough to configure LDAP.

  9. Support network users

MDM protocol has an extension called "Network User Authentication" allowing MDM to manage network users in corporate or educational environment.

This is linked to what is sometime called shared devices or lab devices.

Main idea is to be able to target settings to users and not devices directly.

This mean users are provided by a central directory service (at this time it's LDAP like AD, OD or even custom LDAP, but don't forget that macOS might support something else too).

So MDM need to be able to sync with any kind of directory services and receive "UserAuthenticate" messages from managed…

  11. Slack integration

I would really like Slack intergration
I.e a notification when there is a change like a new machine enrolls or something more advanced like a notification when a new machine enroll have an interative button (https://api.slack.com/docs/message-buttons), to confirm that the machine is allowed to enroll and move it to the right group.

  13. Add API endpoints for viewing notes and updating Device information

Currently when you call for a Device via API, it's missing the 'Notes' attribute. It would be helpful to be able to access that.

In addition, an update endpoint for Devices would be incredibly helpful so you could change the name/notes on a device.

  15. Make the IMAP Path Prefix option available

When creating accounts on devices for IMAP Mail servers, we need to set the IMAP Path Prefix so the folders behave properly.

With SimpleMDM we currently can't set that, but we can with .mobileconfig Plist files.

  18. API to revoke vpp licenses

In SimpleMDM you can revoke vpp licenses. It would be great if this is possible via SimpleMDM API.

  19. Display Current Apple VPP App Version in App Catalog

Provide a listing of the most current version of a VPP application in the Apple VPP store in the Simple MDM app catalog interface. This will provide a reference to compare the current version available with the version that is installed on each device.

  20. Add the ability to see if an app is installed against all users

End goal: Ability to see which users have or have not installed a certain app.

Idea 1: Have an 'apps' tab where you can filter on select apps against a list of all users and if they have the app or not.
Idea 2: Export of all apps installed for all users where I can manually find out where the app isn't listed against the persons name to see that they have not installed the app.

Use-case: I am deploying an app within my organisation and I want to be able to see which users have or haven't installed it.…
