let us download an uploaded IPA
We recently had a case where we suspected that one of the app binaries that we uploaded wasn't the one we intended to release. We thought to download the IPA from SimpleMDM and do a hash check against the IPA we had locally, but wasn't able to find any way to download it from the SimpleMDM website.

Persistent settings (group) on re-enroll of device
We'd love to see devices automatically re-assign previous settings when the device is re-enrolled. Currently, if a device is in SimpleMDM and gets erased/wiped locally, the device will re-enroll and be placed in the "Default" group, most settings are lost (Except Device Name).
It would be useful if a device that gets re-enrolled would automatically appear in the group it was previously in rather than the default group.
3 votesThis is now the default behavior if "Force device group assignment" is unchecked on the enrollment being used to re-enroll the device.

Service status page for service
Ease of access to tell when the service is not responding etc.

Hide API key until a 'reveal' button is pressed on the Settings > API page
https://a.simplemdm.com/admin/api
As noted on the page itself, 'Note: Take care to protect your account key. It is just as powerful as your username and password.'
It would be nice if the key was hidden on view when you visit the page and instead there was a button near it that reveals the key temporarily. Would help prevent accidentally showing API key and looks better in demos.
Thanks in advance!

allow in-app purchases to be disable via Device Restrictions
Currently, in-app purchases can be disabled via the on-device Restrictions page. However, I do not see this as an option when configuring my Group Restrictions. Can this item be added to the available Restrictions?
Thanks!

Add the ability to schedule forced updates (for both apps and iOS versions)
It'd be great for OS version updates and App Version (for supervised device VPP apps) forced updates to be schedule-able so that you can force the update to go through at a certain time of day (e.g. midnight or 2am when the device is unlikely to be in use).
43 votesiOS updates can be scheduled using an “iOS Auto Update Policy”. VPP apps can be set to auto-update from the Apps > Settings section. For scheduling of VPP app updates, please create a separate feature request so that we may track the particular request.

Automatically Sync with Apple DEP
Please add an option to allow "Sync with Apple" to happen without admin interaction. Ideally this would sync daily with Apple's deploy.apple.com service. In our environment we purchase from an authorized reseller so they automatically assign the serial numbers to our account and we would ideally like this to sync with SimpleMDM without admin interaction.
3 votesDEP accounts are now automatically synced every three hours.

Group or global level default custom attribute
When using custom attributes for profiles, I would like the ability to have a globally defined default value for a custom attribute. This would be overridden by a group-level custom attribute (if specified), otherwise it would inherit from the global value. Finally, if the value could be overridden at the device level should that level of granularity be required.
So the order of precedence (from lowest to highest) would be:
• Global
• Group
• DeviceA use case of this is for password policies. I can create a custom password policy with a custom attribute like {{requiredlength}} to…

More Usefull Features for MAC OS.
There needs to be a full set of features for MAC OS. 1) pushing updates 2) Allowing to track via the Map
And more!! Pushing apps like final cut is a plus. But we should be able to do more with the MAC OS.
1 voteMany features have been added for macOS since this post was submitted. If there are other features you would like to see added, please submit a new suggestion.

Asset Management
In Jamf there is a field you can enter on a device labeled "Asset Tag". It was a nice way to keep track of Asset Tag numbers without having to put it into the Device Name.
1 voteHave you considered using a custom attribute? You can add “asset_tag” by visiting Configs > Attributes. This will then add an asset_tag field to each device under device details.

Button to force/request device details
Add a button to request device details.
Example: When adding/removing an app to/from devices, it takes up to an hour for the portal to reflect the changes. It would be nice to push a request for the data, especially when we don't have the luxury of waiting an hour.15 votes -

Play a sound
From the iCloud interface you are able to play a sound to find your iPhone. I just noticed that the Simple MDM does not list that as an action to preform. I realize you could call the phone, but if the switch is on mute, the ringer will not sound, but I believe the play a sound from iCloud works when the mute switch is enabled.

Support Adding .pkg and .dmg without signing
One of the nice things about Meraki’s SM is the way in which it handles the install of Apps vs SimpleMDM namely:
- You dont need to sign a .pkg
- You can upload a file or specify a URL as the source of the installer (.pkg or .dmg)Having to sign the .pkg is kinda annoying.

Include Custom Attributes in export
With custom attributes I now have a place for my asset tags and assigned to values, but these values are not exportable. Even the API makes it very hard to retrieve these fields.

Add email account from configuration profile
In our old (crappy) MDM solution the only thing that wasn't crappy was the ability to configure email accounts on a per device basis via pre-defined email configuration profiles. At the very moment in Simple MDM we have to fill out a couple of fields on the device->accounts->email page manually.
Being able to chose from a list of pre-configured email account configuration profiles would be much smoother for us.
Thanks for considering and hopefully implementing that feature!
12 votesEmail accounts can now be assigned at the device group level. If the username and password field values are unique for each device, they can be left blank so that the user is prompted for the values. If you would like to add them as an administrator, custom attributes can be used to create username and password values on a per-device basis.
