  1. mdm eventlog

Add a detailed EventLog in the MDM.

It would be nice to know if commands/messages were successfully sent to a device.

Logging is now available in SimpleMDM under Account > Logs.

  2. Prestage Enrollment with DEP

Please add the ability to set custom attributes for DEP Devices which have not yet enrolled with SimpleMDM.

This would enable us to set some user attributes (email addresses, user names etc.) before handing the device to the user. Right now we are not able to preset a Google account profile for a user for a full zero touch deployment.

See the new “Notifications” section under “Account”.

  4. Force iOS Update

Give the ability to Force a Device to Update to the latest version of iOS. Without a request sent to the Device. I need the ability to just force the update without asking for an approval from the Device holder. My Customers are not very smart.

Please find a new “iOS Update Policy” option in Configs > Profiles.

  5. Push scripts and or terminal commands to macOS clients

I need to be able to push scripts and terminal commands to my macOS clients from my MDM solution.

If this was in place, it would open up a lot of possibilities for tighter integration with a package distribution system like Munki.

  7. Event to hook into when a new device enrolls (e.g: webhook)

Would be nice if it's possible to hook into some event when a device
gets enrolled. Since I'm not able to influence the polling I would like to
know when a new device is actually enrolled so I have an up to date start.

  9. Allow deploying of files/books to iBooks

Allow deploying of files/books to iBooks. We would like to post and push some internal documentation into iBooks. This would be very helpful for our engineering staff who are out in the field so that they they do not need to carry service manuals with them.

  10. Scope API key

I'd like multiple API keys able to be generated in the UI that have scoped permissions, for example, one API key restricted to only being able to hit the device endpoint, or one API key only being able to access Users.

With this feature, it would reduce the threat of the API key being compromised as it's potential scope would be limited.

  11. Add the ability to schedule forced updates (for both apps and iOS versions)

It'd be great for OS version updates and App Version (for supervised device VPP apps) forced updates to be schedule-able so that you can force the update to go through at a certain time of day (e.g. midnight or 2am when the device is unlikely to be in use).

iOS updates can be scheduled using an “iOS Auto Update Policy”. VPP apps can be set to auto-update from the Apps > Settings section. For scheduling of VPP app updates, please create a separate feature request so that we may track the particular request.

  12. Improve app update process for VPP device-based assignment apps

It appears that an admin must manually force updates for apps distributed using VPP device-based assignment? Some features that would be nice to have: 1) Automatically control app updating via a policy setting; 2) Provide an option to queue the update until device is on wifi; 3) Show the current app version from the app store so it can be compared to current version on the device.

Device-assigned VPP apps can now be set to auto-update from the Apps > Settings section.

  14. Customized Managed Software Centre

It would be great to have a way to customize the Munki Managed Software Centre now that Munki integration is part of the beta. If there was a way to apply something like Munki Theme Creator files (https://grovetech.co/blog/munki-theme-creator-for-munki/) This would be amazing.

SimpleMDM's Munki integration now supports the ability to set a custom banner image for the Managed Software Center. Here is a link to the KB documentation: https://docs.simplemdm.com/article/144-munki-settings

I will mark this suggestion as completed for now so that users will get their votes back, but if there are additional changes / MSC customization options that you would like to see implemented, please do not hesitate to submit a new suggestion.

Groups can now be cloned under the group details screen. Click the “Actions” button and then the “Clone” option.

Please open a new feature request for cloning profiles so that it may be tracked separately.

  16. Unique DEP local admin password (per device)

It would be great if the password of the local administrator account created during the DEP enrolment was unique to that device.

The password could be shown in the device information together with the EFI password and FileVault recovery key.

  17. Make available the list of user accounts that exist on MacOS systems.

Apple's MDM protocol allows the list of users to be queried from managed systems:

    https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/list_the_user_accounts?changes=latest_minor&language=objc

It would be very helpful for us if this information could be displayed in the SimpleMDM Web UI. Thank you!

  18. Alerts for MDM unenrollment

Customers need email alerts for the unenrollment of devices. Since Apple does not allow for the prevention of removal of MDM profiles, users can unenroll devices at will. The only way an administrator can know this without being logged into the portal one hundred percent of the time would be a proactive alerting infrastructure. Ideally, this would include multiple alert options including email, SMS and push notification to an admin device.

  19. Support account-driven user enrollment

Initially announced at WWDC21 [1], macOS, iOS, and iPadOS devices starting with iOS15 and macOS Monterey support a workflow called account-driven user enrollment [2]. This workflow differs from the existing user enrollment methodology in that it uses a slightly different protocol and requires the implementation of a session token on the MDM provider side.

We are interested in the account-driven workflow because it removes the need to distribute enrollment profiles or have users visit an enrollment URL and download / install the profile. The improved UX, when combined with this year's promised release of federated authentication to more providers in…

If possible, I would like to be able to push internally signed root certificates to devices so they trust intranet services that are encrypted through those internal certs.
