Add a detailed EventLog in the MDM.
It would be nice to know if commands/messages were successfully sent to a device.132 votes
Logging is now available in SimpleMDM under Account > Logs.
Give the ability to Force a Device to Update to the latest version of iOS. Without a request sent to the Device. I need the ability to just force the update without asking for an approval from the Device holder. My Customers are not very smart.53 votes
Please find a new “iOS Update Policy” option in Configs > Profiles.
Would be nice if it's possible to hook into some event when a device
gets enrolled. Since I'm not able to influence the polling I would like to
know when a new device is actually enrolled so I have an up to date start.47 votes
Webhooks are configurable under Settings > API. Documentation: https://simplemdm.com/docs/api/#webhooks
ability to copy rules, websites, restrictions or groups.47 votes
Allow deploying of files/books to iBooks. We would like to post and push some internal documentation into iBooks. This would be very helpful for our engineering staff who are out in the field so that they they do not need to carry service manuals with them.46 votes
I'd like multiple API keys able to be generated in the UI that have scoped permissions, for example, one API key restricted to only being able to hit the device endpoint, or one API key only being able to access Users.
With this feature, it would reduce the threat of the API key being compromised as it's potential scope would be limited.44 votes
It'd be great for OS version updates and App Version (for supervised device VPP apps) forced updates to be schedule-able so that you can force the update to go through at a certain time of day (e.g. midnight or 2am when the device is unlikely to be in use).43 votes
iOS updates can be scheduled using an “iOS Auto Update Policy”. VPP apps can be set to auto-update from the Apps > Settings section. For scheduling of VPP app updates, please create a separate feature request so that we may track the particular request.
It appears that an admin must manually force updates for apps distributed using VPP device-based assignment? Some features that would be nice to have: 1) Automatically control app updating via a policy setting; 2) Provide an option to queue the update until device is on wifi; 3) Show the current app version from the app store so it can be compared to current version on the device.43 votes
Device-assigned VPP apps can now be set to auto-update from the Apps > Settings section.
Able to clone group.40 votes
Groups can now be cloned under the group details screen. Click the “Actions” button and then the “Clone” option.
Please open a new feature request for cloning profiles so that it may be tracked separately.
Customers need email alerts for the unenrollment of devices. Since Apple does not allow for the prevention of removal of MDM profiles, users can unenroll devices at will. The only way an administrator can know this without being logged into the portal one hundred percent of the time would be a proactive alerting infrastructure. Ideally, this would include multiple alert options including email, SMS and push notification to an admin device.32 votes
If possible, I would like to be able to push internally signed root certificates to devices so they trust intranet services that are encrypted through those internal certs.31 votes
Please add support for the configuration of wpa/wpa2 enterprise wireless network settings. This feature would also require the ability to push certificates from enterprise CA's (a process similar to Apple's iPhone configuration utility).30 votes
Support for Enterprise wireless networks (WEP, WPA, and WPA2) has been added. This includes support for certificate-based authentications.
This feature enhancement does not currently include the ability to automatically provision certificates from a third party or self-hosted CA. For this functionality or any other functionality not included in this current feature enhancement that you require, please create a new feature request.
From the community: When a user loses a phone, or when we want to know where the phone is, add a feature to see the last position of the phone and/or to ask the device its current position.30 votes
We now support GPS location tracking!
To start tracking your devices, sign in to DeviceLink and deploy the DeviceLink mobile app to your devices. You can also configure your groups to automatically deploy the app on device enrollment (on by default).
Let us know what you think!
Provide the ability to use Apple's iOS 7 "Managed App Configuration" feature to bootstrap an app with initial configuration values.
Even better would be the ability to have variable support (string substitution) such that values such as the user's name, email address, and other device attributes could be dynamically in the delivered managed app config payload.30 votes
Support has been added for managed app configurations. To add a configuration for a particular app, click on the app from the catalog view and select the “Managed Configuration” tab.
We plan to add additional functionality in the future. If you have additional requirements, please open a new request on our feature request board at simplemdm.uservoice.com.
When our admins make changes, these aren't recorded anywhere. This means that when a mistake is made, we don't have a log of what change was made in order to revert this.
It would be awesome if there was an activity feed or a history which showed any changes made by an admin in the portal.29 votes
See Account > Logs within SimpleMDM.
When removing an app from an app distribution group, also have it actually remove the app from all of the devices in that group.
Or maybe if it's better to separate, have some other way to remove an app from a set of devices, maybe select from the list of devices or something along those lines.28 votes
Visit the “Installs” tab on the App details screen.
An option to log in qith password and a code that is sent to the phone as a second authentication method would help keep things secure.27 votes
Two-factor authentication can be enabled by visiting the “security” tab under “user settings”.
I would like to be able to enable lost mode via API.
Better, would be the ability to configure a given time since a device has last reported its location… or last checked in, and allow either lost mode or lock to be enabled by MDM itself.25 votes
See documentation for details: https://simplemdm.com/docs/api/#lost-mode
It would be great if we did not have to add an email account to each device separately. Instead have it as part of group deployment settings with a request to enter credentials.24 votes
Email accounts can now be assigned at the device group level. If the username and password field values are unique for each device, they can be left blank so that the user is prompted for the values. If you would like to add them as an administrator, custom attributes can be used to create username and password values on a per-device basis.
