  1. Add firewall profile support

It would be great to add a configuration profile to force enabling the firewall on a mac machine. I am very surprised that it isn't an option, there are other mdm solutions that offer this and it seems pretty basic for ensuring security.

  2. allow for disabling notifications in iOS and controlling privacy System Services in MDM

I know Apple has some limitations on this but it would be good to be able to disable notifications on the screen from SimpleMDM. Also the ability to control the Privacy > System Services screen options thru a boolean on and off config like those available in a custom app configuration. Since this is an iOS control I am not sure if there is a string that can be added to allow for this under privacy controls or not. Thanks for your consideration.

  3. Add ability for API Key's to have Labels / Notes

Allow for human readable names / notes of generated API keys.
    ie:

API Key | Last Used | Note
***asdf | never | This key is for RO access logging.

  4. Make "Consumed Licenses" available via API

Make the consumed device licenses in SimpleMDM available via the API, in a new call or perhaps available via the account payload.

This could be extended to plan details. The argument could be made that this count could be inferred from number of active devices... I don't see why this couldn't be its own API endpoint, returning an example such as:

  5. ability to see per-device logs via the API

Right now you can query the logs via the API. Which is great! :) BUT - you have to pull ALL log events and then parse through them.

I'd love the ability to pull the logs for a specific device via the API - which is clearly something you can do in the WebUI via filters and voodoo.

My end goal is being able to query if a lock.enabled command is in the logs, so I can confirm a device has received a remote lock command.

But I'm sure being able to query individual device logs for other entries would…

  6. Provide more details in webhook messages

We've got a webhook setup to post events to a Slack channel, but the messages don't have enough details to be actionable.

Including the device name would be a good start!

Visual Studio Code became available as a shared app last month. Please look for “Microsoft Visual Studio Code” in the catalog.

  8. Present passwords in a font that disambiguates similar characters

Just had a frightening incident in which I thought we had been locked out of a managed device. Turns out the problem was just that the firmware password was hard to read: I was mistaking a 1 for an l.

I suggest you choose a different font for passwords/recovery codes/etc., which makes very clear whether a given character is a 1 or l; likewise for 0 and O, which I also mistake on a regular basis.

The font change was applied a while back but I didn't realize there were duplicate requests. Closing this one as well. If there is a new change you'd like to see related to this, please feel free to submit new a request.

  9. Enter multiple email addresses in the billing email field of account settings

For backup or other internal reasons, it could be helpful to be able to enter more than one recipient to be notified, once billing occured and to receive receipts. Maybe a separator like semicolon or comma could already do the trick?

  12. Allow scoping of profiles via Device OS type (eg. Macs / iOS / iPadOS)

Its often the case where iOS devices and macOS devices have differing passcode policies (user experience of a entering complex passwords on touchscreen keyboard).

Currently it's not possible to scope one passcode profile to different OS types. Same goes for custom profiles.. if you are using them, often profiles that don't apply to an iOS device end up being deployed unnecessarily (and hopefully ignored).

Extending the scope for OS types would be very useful.

Just a date that lets you know when the device was enrolled. Give you an idea of the age of the device.

  17. API: get application identifier

In order to list the machine on which an application is installed, I intend to use /apps/{APP_ID}/installs

Right now it is impossible to get the application identifier "APP_ID" from the API.
The /apps endpoint returns a very limited list of known applications (probably from the catalog, but it's not very clear).

The only way to get this APP_ID is to go through the admin web interface, go to the "Apps" section, and copy the identifier from there.

As far as I can tell, the API is missing this feature currently.

The APP_ID for an app can be obtained from the Apps List All endpoint here: https://api.simplemdm.com/#list-all

As it stands, we recommend using this endpoint to get a list of IDs. However, this endpoint only returns apps in your account's Catalog. If there is some additional functionality you are looking for, please submit a new suggestion.

  18. Add the ability to mark some custom attributes as "secret"

We're looking at pushing things like wifi passwords to devices using profiles and custom attributes... as we aim to use MIST's multiple PSK option - https://www.mist.com/documentation/multi-psk/

Each device will have their own wifi password pushed as a custom attribute - but these are effectively passwords. It would be awesome if they could be tagged as secret (like a lot of CI/CD tools allow you to do) and we could log that an admin had viewed them (in the same way unlock PIN and Activation Lock Key access is logged now

When editing a custom attribute via Configs > Attributes, you can now select "Mark as secret". When checked, this will prevent users with "Custom attributes marked as secret" permissions disabled for their user role from seeing the values stored for these attributes.

  19. Munki Integration : On-Demand installation

I wish that the Munki "OnDemand" key that is planned for a PkgInfo is exposed in the declaration of a package in SimpleMDM. That would offer to trigger the installation of a package as needed without an instal / remove cycle.

I'd like to have Mactracker added to the Shared App library. The non MAS version is preferred so I can add it to Munki as an optional install. Thanks!
