  1. True Power management

Ability to set power schedules on devices. This would be for devices set up as kiosks to cycle power based on a time frame to provide a more environmentally friendly setup while providing device longevity. A must for kiosks, considering kiosk mode is an option.

  2. Table view customizable

The main table view should function like a true dashboard that has sortable and customizable options for the columns. It is too limited now and requires many clicks to drill down to see data like OS version etc. just way too much clicking to get basic info

  3. Expose md5 and/or Other Checksum(s) of Enterprise Apps in Catalogue

Once an app binary has been uploaded and deployed to devices via MDM it can be hard to find which particular build is actually deployed to the world.

If you may happen to have binaries that share the same BundleID, CFBundleVersion, and CFBundleVersionShortString there is no way to tell which app is actually uploaded. If we could see an md5 checksum or sha1 or sha256 it wold be a nice and easy way to know with confidence which binary was uploaded.

  4. Setup wireless to allow for open networks

Within the wireless settings, put in an option to allow for connecting to open networks. Would be good for public wireless connections that may need to go thru an acceptance screen or a proxy filter to allow connection. Currently it is only feasible thru a profile manager .config file custom attribute import. Would be nice to have this directly available in wireless security options.

  6. Stop WIFI Sharing

As of iOS 11 you can now share your network settings. This poses a problem for devices that aren't company owned. Users can now share the password with other Apple devices that are close by. We would like to prevent MDM devices from sharing passwords with any other device.

  7. Email a PDF invoice

Please email the billing invoices as an attached PDF, this facility makes it so much easier to put into third party apps for reporting financial expenses.

  8. Add option to flag device as stolen - alternate default group and email alerted when a specific SN enrolls

In a scenario when a device is stolen we can flag it as stolen in the SimpleMDM interface and have email alerts be sent to the SimpleMDM Admin's when that SN registers with the service. Additionally, it would be handy to have a separate default group for devices flagged as stolen so if the OS is reinstalled and the device re-enrolls it doesn't end up in the company's default group.

  9. Enable complete location history

The location history shown on the map only appears to show the last 24 hours for the device. I would like to be able to download a complete history for a time range. The system is already collecting a brief history, it seems it would only be a small mod to enable a longer history, perhaps downloadable.

  10. report on mac model, installed ram and cpu type

The plan is, we'll be populating an asset management system with our MDM data... and the team setting it up would like this data tracked too

Not sure if the MDM API allows for gathering this information - but it does - this would be really helpful for us.

    Thanks

    Steve

  11. Hide Apps in the Catalog (and in the assignment drop downs as well)

I would like to see a feature that would allow me to "Hide" VPP Apps in the catalog, and thereby also hide them in the drop downs when assigning them.

The dilemma that I’m running into is that some apps vendors have issued completely new apps under the same name to replace an old one: For example, GoToMeeting and Sharefile both have “Old” and “New” apps in the system. I would like to hide the old ones in the catalog and the in the dropdowns so that I don’t accidentally assign them.

There are also apps that vendors no longer…

  12. Location for macOS

Similar to how you push an app for iOS location, it would be nice to have a headless macOS app that did the same thing. Or perhaps a menu item of some sort.

  14. SimpleMDM granularity

    Hi SimpleMDM Dev Team:

Thank you for allowing this space to share creative thought in the ongoing development of SimpleMDM. May some of my ideas have already been discussed, maybe not-- regardless I trust this will be taken into consideration.

Since the slow death of Apple's Profile Manager has left very little control to us in IT as Admins and Engineers, it would be nice to see SimpleMDM pick up the slack and not just fill in the gap but lead with the innovation of a few things in the macOS platform so that many of us can continue to…

  15. Implement a self enrolment portal for end users

I would like to be able to get users to simply enrol in SimpleMDM through a URL, similar to JAMFnow enrolment portal.

This is a very simple way to boost enrolment on user side and allows administrators to easily enrol devices on the go. No longer remembering long enrolment URLs.

    JAMFnow workflow
    User goes to company.jamfnow.com
User is provided with dropdown list of available groups to enrol in
User is prompted for first name and last name
User is asked to enter a passcode (set by admin)
User clicks enrol and is now provided with relevant profile

    Must have features:…

  18. Add Support for onboard or installed S/MIME Certificates

It would be awesome if ActiveSync Email Accounts provided by a Provider could allow for either manually installed (onboard) or MDM provided S/MIME certificates.

  19. Add CardDav Account Profile

In the same way Email Account is now a profile with custom attributes support add a CardDav Account Profile with custom attribute support.

This would allow a CardDav account to be automaticly set up on each device

  20. Add directory services integration (LDAP/Active Directory)

For enterprise, integration with directory services is essential. I need to be able to target machines and devices for actions and reporting based on an assigned active directory user and/or the user's groups.

This should include enrollment, targeting for policies, targeting for package deployment, etc.

I see there might be some initial work being done in the Configs -> Providers menu, but as is, it is not enough to configure LDAP.
