push trusted certificates
If possible, I would like to be able to push internally signed root certificates to devices so they trust intranet services that are encrypted through those internal certs.

Track Device GPS Location
From the community: When a user loses a phone, or when we want to know where the phone is, add a feature to see the last position of the phone and/or to ask the device its current position.
30 votesWe now support GPS location tracking!
To start tracking your devices, sign in to DeviceLink and deploy the DeviceLink mobile app to your devices. You can also configure your groups to automatically deploy the app on device enrollment (on by default).

Add support for wpa/wpa2 enterprise wireless networks
Please add support for the configuration of wpa/wpa2 enterprise wireless network settings. This feature would also require the ability to push certificates from enterprise CA's (a process similar to Apple's iPhone configuration utility).
30 votesSupport for Enterprise wireless networks (WEP, WPA, and WPA2) has been added. This includes support for certificate-based authentications.
This feature enhancement does not currently include the ability to automatically provision certificates from a third party or self-hosted CA. For this functionality or any other functionality not included in this current feature enhancement that you require, please create a new feature request.

Provide support for Managed App Configurations
Provide the ability to use Apple's iOS 7 "Managed App Configuration" feature to bootstrap an app with initial configuration values.
Even better would be the ability to have variable support (string substitution) such that values such as the user's name, email address, and other device attributes could be dynamically in the delivered managed app config payload.
30 votesSupport has been added for managed app configurations. To add a configuration for a particular app, click on the app from the catalog view and select the “Managed Configuration” tab.
We plan to add additional functionality in the future. If you have additional requirements, please open a new request on our feature request board at simplemdm.uservoice.com.

Activity feed / History which show changes made in the portal
Hey Simple,
When our admins make changes, these aren't recorded anywhere. This means that when a mistake is made, we don't have a log of what change was made in order to revert this.
It would be awesome if there was an activity feed or a history which showed any changes made by an admin in the portal.
29 votesSee Account > Logs within SimpleMDM.

Ability to bulk delete a specific app from all devices in a group
When removing an app from an app distribution group, also have it actually remove the app from all of the devices in that group.
Or maybe if it's better to separate, have some other way to remove an app from a set of devices, maybe select from the list of devices or something along those lines.

2 Factor Authentication when logging in to the site will help keep managed device information save.
An option to log in qith password and a code that is sent to the phone as a second authentication method would help keep things secure.
27 votesTwo-factor authentication can be enabled by visiting the “security” tab under “user settings”.

Add schedule to script jobs
Scripts and jobs to run them are a fantastic addition but the jobs are single use at that this stage.
The ability to schedule jobs seems like the next logical iteration.
Keep up the good work SimpleMDM
27 votesScript Jobs can now be scheduled within the admin interface.

Support for Munki installer_type "nopkg"
Munki has a pkginfo key for the installer type "nopkg". In a self-hosted Munki environment, this allows pkginfo files to be added to a repository that do not have an associated .pkg or .dmg file. You can read the Munki Project docs on the feature here: https://github.com/munki/munki/wiki/nopkgs
This has a variety of uses, because it allows Munki to be used as a general script execution tool. An admin can use any of Munki's installation conditions (package receipt, installs array, installcheck_script, or OnDemand) to then run a pre or postinstall script embedded in the pkginfo.
One example of how this is…

lost mode via API
I would like to be able to enable lost mode via API.
Better, would be the ability to configure a given time since a device has last reported its location… or last checked in, and allow either lost mode or lock to be enabled by MDM itself.

Add Account as part of group deployment
It would be great if we did not have to add an email account to each device separately. Instead have it as part of group deployment settings with a request to enter credentials.
24 votesEmail accounts can now be assigned at the device group level. If the username and password field values are unique for each device, they can be left blank so that the user is prompted for the values. If you would like to add them as an administrator, custom attributes can be used to create username and password values on a per-device basis.

Support the new minimum macOS version at enrollment feature
Apple's documentation shows that a new feature will allow MDMs to set a minimum version during ADE enrollments. Please support this for testing during the macOS 14 beta cycle.
24 votesClosing this since the feature was added and it will give some votes back. However, suggestions in comments have been noted. Feel free to open a new request with any additional suggestions.

Add macOS account creation DEP options
Please add the account setup options to the macOS DEP options to the DEP options that SimpleMDM offers. They're described under "Account setup options (macOS only)"
Skip is very useful in AD/directory service environments where machines are bound(I'm not part of them), and creating local admin vs local standard user is just nice for flexibility.

Allow self installation of apps using SimpleMDM App
We have numerous users in the field who should be able to re-install an approved app if necessary. Currently this requires calling us and bogs us down quite a bit.
23 votesPlease see the self-serve functionality of our Munki Integration, available for macOS devices.

Allow import of custom profiles for a single device.
As it is now, you can upload a custom configuration profile to a group. It would be great to have a option to put some configuration profile on a single device, not having to create a group for this one device and then upload the custom profile.

app version device distribution
See adoption of a specific app version.
We publish continuously new versions of our mdm distributed enterprise app. Often, however, users decline to update to a certain version because e.g. they're in the middle of using the app. We know how to send another updated cycle out to the devices, but sometimes it would be helpful to see which devices have a specific version. Right now we have to manually go into each device, then to the apps section to see what's going on. Quite annoying for 30 devices and the numbers of our devices will increase in the future.
…
22 votesI'm marking this one as completed because SimpleMDM does display this information on the "Installs" tab under the App Details (Catalog > click app name > Installs tab).
If there is something else that you would like to see added to expand upon this, please submit a new suggestion. Thanks!

Allow unlimited apps in folders of "Home Screen Layout" profiles
As far as I know, iOS does not limit the number of app in one folder, but currently with SimpleMDM interface to manager home screen layout we are limited to 9 apps per folder.

Ability to go from Vertical to Horizontal layouts. Layouts Specifically for iPads/iPods/iPhones. Ability to add Folders for the apps as well.
22 votesHome screen layouts currently support folders.
Apple iOS does not permit defining layouts specifically for horizontal or vertical orientations at this time.
