  1. An option to automatically whitelist any apps assigned to a device group.

    By default, we restrict what apps can be installed on iOS devices. Right now, if I want to deploy a VPP app to an iOS device, I have to add it to the device assignment AND remember to go to my restrictions profile and whitelist it.

    I suggest that all assigned apps be automatically whitelisted, or at least have a setting that can turn on this automatic whitelisting if the SimpleMDM admin selects it.

  3. Add option to delete after wipe

    (Or a similar control to ensure devices are never unenrolled before the wipe command is received.)

    If you send a wipe command to a device that is currently offline, and then remove that device from SimpleMDM before it comes back online, the device will only be unenrolled from SimpleMDM and not wiped.

  4. Support large API uploads

    SimpleMDM support responded to me raising reliability issues with large API uploads with:

    The file upload limit using the API is 5GB (10GB using the GUI). Because of how uploads are processed via the API vs. when using the GUI, there are more points of failure that could potentially interfere with the upload process completing successfully, especially for larger files that take longer to upload.

    Because of this, it is recommended to upload larger files using the GUI. Larger uploads may not always fail when uploading using the API, so you're not hurting anything by continuing to try but, if…

  7. Better Profile Management

    When creating new profiles, it would be awesome if it showed settings that only applied to the device type(s) you have selected.

    For instance i have some profiles that are for IOS only, some are Mac OS Only, and some apply to both.

    It would be awesome for profiles that are IOS or MacOS, ETC Only to show settings that can be configured for those OS's only just to cut down on clutter and confusion.

    The version of Parallels is current v18, which crashes if you try and set up Windows and isn't supported on macOS 14+

  11. Add a description field to groups

    A multi-line description field on groups will help people document within SimpleMDM why a group exists. I feel like it would sit nicely under a Group's Settings page alongside Name and Type.

    Having group descriptions will make it more likely for people to document why a group exists. This would help people audit existing groups and clean up extra and no longer necessary groups.

    A multi-line field would allow for links to tickets or other documentation without taking up the whole line and having to scroll sideways.

  13. Please add Okta Verify to the 'Shared App' catalogue

    Okta's original guidance for Verify was to use VPP to install Okta Verify... (indeed, this is the first VPP app we've ever deployed at scale)

    Alas - Okta are fickle, and if you want to use their new "advanced" posture checks, powered by OSQuery - you CANNOT use the VPP version of the app, you need the downloaded version.

    With this in mind, would you consider adding Okta Verify to the catalogue please?

  14. Provide a method for passing static data to a script from the job creation form

    Please provide a method for handing off data to a script as part of a job being created.

    My example case:
    We regularly have an application that needs to be deleted before a newer version can be installed. We currently edit a script each time we need to use it.

  15. Wipe API Endpoint - Same arguments as Portal GUI (Disable Activation Lock, Preserve Data Plan, Return to Service, etc)

    I've seen other suggestions on adding select arguments to the Wipe endpoint of the SimpleMDM API.

    I'd like to propose adding all the available Wipe Options from the Portal GUI to the API Endpoint, with [default values] if these arguments are not in the request:

    preserveDataPlan > True / [False]
    disallowProximitySetup > True / [False]

    Hey, it would be great if you create a Profile for App Restrictions (Whitelist) the App Installation should be able to be a higher priority (though a setting in the profile) to avoid double configuration need of installations.

  17. Select devices in dynamic groups to perform bulk actions

    I have been trying to use a Dynamic Group to find all devices that haven't checked in for a given period (for example, all devices that haven't checked in > 90 days) so I can perform bulk actions on the group such as removing their enrolment. However it's not possible to bulk select the devices in a dynamic group to perform bulk actions as the selection box is greyed out with a tooltip message "Assigned by device filter".

    This really limits the usefulness of dynamic groups; use cases such as finding all devices that are running older versions of macOS…

  18. Creating Subgroups

    Within my school structure I have groups created by grade. I would like to be able to create subgroups for foreign language, honors vs standard, etc. so that i can push paid apps to only a small segment of a group, and to be able to put devices into multiple subgroups.
