  1. Add Office 365 as an account provider

In Device>Accounts>Add account Google is an option. It would be fantastic if Office 365 was an option as well. I'd love a streamlined way to deploy Office 365 credentials to apps such as Outlook, Excel, and Word at the same time, especially on iOS where users may not be familiar with app passwords.

  2. create a viewable command queue

I need to be able to see a pending command queue, especially for offline devices. For example, let's say I have a lost/stolen iPad. The device was online yesterday, so I enable lost mode on that device. Since it's not currently online, that command is queued in the background until it's online again, but there is no indication whatsoever that the command is queued up.

  3. Parameter Filters

I really love how you can use parameters in many places. That said, it would be even better if we could have some simple "filters", or string functions, like many template languages have.

    E.g. I get the first and last name as custom parameters from the enrollment login. It would be great if I could set the username to something like {{first_name|lowercase}}

  4. The ability to reorganize or customize the arrangement of the Profiles page

The Profiles page becomes cluttered by all the different profiles inserted, it would be very helpful if there was an option to organize them in maps.

  5. Ability to disable the guest user

It would be great if we could disable guest users on macOS for security reasons.

  6. make profile removal password protected without enrolling with DEP

This was previously declined in 2018, here: https://suggestions.simplemdm.com/forums/204404-suggestions/suggestions/34296127-make-profile-removal-password-protected-without-en

I suspect the answer was wrong then, but it is definitely wrong now, in December 2019, for macOS 10.15.2.

I created a one-time enrollment, downloaded the mobileconfig, stripped the signature, added a RemovalPassword via Configurator (v2.11), and installed the profile. My device then connected to SimpleMDM and downloaded the rest of the config. This is presented in the 10.15.2 Profiles Pane UI as a set of distinct profiles (1 per profile configured in SimpleMDM). None of those "mini profiles" are removable but the top level one is. When removing it, it requires…

  7. Make Lock PIN #s / Filevault Recovery Keys Available Via the API

Same logic as Filevault Keys. Make them available via API.

Bonus points if the new API copes could limit access to PINs/ FV keys.

  8. Add API endpoint for setting default custom profile value

Currently, the API only allows to set a custom profile value for a device, not a default value globally.

  9. Retrieve devices in a group via the API

Currently I have to list all of the devices in the MDM, and filter after the fact. It would be great to be able to retrieve the devices in a particular group directly.

  10. App installation dependencies for macOS

We have some installation dependencies for applications that we're deploying to macOS, but it doesn't appear possible to specify dependencies for Apps & Media within SimpleMDM. Because of that, we're unable to control the order that those packages are installed in. It would be nice to have the ability to mark certain app install bundles as dependent upon others.

  11. Allow Webclips to be named differently than the profile name

Webclips have to share the name of the profile, our company has a specific naming convention for profiles and sometimes our webclips need to be named differently.

  12. Restrict access to devices based on tags

Linked in some ways to this request https://suggestions.simplemdm.com/forums/204404-suggestions/suggestions/37168075-add-more-granular-simplemdm-user-roles… (and yes, please more granular permissions!)

Would it be possible to restrict access to devices in MDM based on some kind of tagging?

So I can tag devices as “Kiosk” and grant helpdesk full admin access over those devices, but they won’t be able to see or modify devices tagged “user laptop” for example.

At the moment we achieve this using two separate SimpleMDM tenants, which works - but makes our plans to use auto-assignment of devices from Apple Business manager more challenging…

  14. Create MDM account before deploying InstallApplications payload

When a machine enrolls into MDM via ABM/ASM the current cadence is to install packages before creating the configured account.

This request is to make the account creation happen first so packages that install can use the account that is created by the MDM.

One instance is the ability to install the bootstrap token escrow with the local admin account.

  15. Custom Attributes - Drop-down list with options

We are using few Custom Attributes that can have only some options (like kiosk app). Having drop-down list with options will be really nice.

Then it will allow us to set possible Attributes and help desk will just choice from drop-down list.

    Thanks David

  16. Allow custom URL for welcome screen

It would be excellent to allow a custom URL for the "Welcome screen" contents, including providing drop-in HTML for a "start enrollment" button. This way, we could for example redirect to existing EULA agreement pages and pop the user right back to the SimpleMDM workflow.

  18. Notification if device battery level drops below a specified percentage

It would be extremely useful if a device dropping below a minimum specified battery level would trigger a notification to the administrator via email. This is a weak point with remotely located devices that are left on and accessible for long periods at a time. Even the genuine high wattage Apple chargers can require a power cycle after being left on for long periods, to avoid the device battery discharging faster than it is maintained.

  19. allow exceptions to Apps that are restricted due to age restricted profiles

allow exceptions to Apps that are still useful but are restricted to the profile settings.
if your profile settings have age restricted Apps set at 14+, have an exception box to allow Apps that have a 17+ to still function on device.

  20. Customise Enterprise WiFi trust

In Apple Configurator 2, there is an option to customise the “Trust” of a Wi-Fi configuration. This allows connecting to an enterprise network (in my case TTLS+PAP) without getting the “Untrusted Certificate” pop-up on iOS.
It would be great to be able to set these fields in the SimpleMDM UI too!
(I actually spent a few days searching why I was getting this pop-up on iOS, and not on macOS; turns out on macOS having the certificate installed in the keychain seems to be enough, but not on macOS…)
