  1. Run scripts based off certain parameters.

Ex: If certain apps aren’t downloaded when the Mac is scanned every hour it runs the specified script or scripts.

Basically add If statements to install apps and run scripts.

  2. Assign profiles to multiple groups from the Profiles Action menu

There's no easy way to assign a single profile to multiple groups at once. Instead, I have to go to the Groups view and click on each group I want to add the profile to, click the profile tab, click Assign Profile, find the Profile I want to add, then click the Assign button. Doing that for each group is tedious.

Instead, I suggest the Profiles view have an option in the Action button to be able to add whichever Profiles are selected to add to Groups. I imagine the resulting view would be a list of groups with a…

  3. Add a Log tab to the device detail view

When viewing the Device Details, having a Log tab to have just the log entires for that device readily available would be great. Currently I have to copy the SN, click on the Logs view, paste the serial number and then if I want more device details I have to go back to the device detail.

Having a log view of just that devices activity in the device detail would keep all the device details in one location.

  4. Profiles API - add/set attributes for OS type, min and max OS version, and Mac architecture

The current profiles API method to list all profiles doesn't return the scope data that is configured in the management console, and there are no means to set these attributes via API methods (per https://api.simplemdm.com/#profiles as at 2022-09-26).

Please update the list all and retrieve one methods to return this scope data.

Please also add a method to update existing profiles with values for this scope data.

    The scope attributes specifically are:
    - setting the OS type
    - setting the minimum macOS version the profile can be installed on
    - setting the maximum macOS version the profile can be installed…

  5. Allow Log Filter to Include API

Currently when filtering the Logs, you can filter by the user making the change, but you cannot filter by API key. I would like the ability to quickly see the recent logs that the API has made.
This may be classified as a bug, but was asked to submit here anyway.

  6. Add column sorting to all columns across SimpleMDM

For example, under Devices > Enrollments > [MDM Server] > DEP Info, none of the columns (S/N, Model, Color, Last DEP Check-In, Linked Device, Status) can be sorted.

Another example is Config > Profiles. Only the "Type" column can be sorted, but none of the other columns.

I realize we can search and filter on these same pages, but it would be helpful to have sort options as well.

  7. Include copy button for admin password.

With the escrowed admin password feature, it would be helpful to include a small copy button (similar to those seen on code training/doc sites) to easily copy the password.

As it is now, if you reveal the password, then triple click to select, you end up grabbing a carriage return (and text styling) that will make the password invalid when pasted.

  8. Specify package install order on joining an app assignment group

I can see that this request has been marked completed:

    https://suggestions.simplemdm.com/forums/204404-suggestions/suggestions/44830375-specify-package-install-order-during-prestage

and I've tested the package order stuff in our environment - and it works really well... but ONLY for pre-stage setups. And they don't always work.

So - if an end user needs to manually enrol a device either via an enrolment link or a sudo profiles -N command to re-trigger an automated enrolment then all that awesome install logic disappears, and the packages get installed in what seems to be a random order. As Eric says in that feature request:

"Some vendors supply their products as multiple packages…

  9. Limit API Scope to Group

Would love the ability to limit a specific API key to only access specific group devices. I would like to develop something to wipe devices for some automation in some build farms, but would not want to give the users the ability to wipe any device from the key.

  10. Managed Application Installation Status

There should be some way in the console (and API) to see the installation status of apps deployed through SimpleMDM, using statuses like "Installed", "Pending", "Error", etc.

Currently, you can see which apps are installed on a device, but there's no way to identify applications that should or will be installed, whether we're waiting for the device to come online, or if there's been an error in the installation process.

In a standalone Munki environment I would could use Sal/MunkiReport as requested in https://suggestions.simplemdm.com/forums/204404-suggestions/suggestions/40754131-integrate-munkireport-or-sal

Alternately, I can also forward the Munki logs in /Library/Managed Installs/Logs to a SEIM like Splunk…

  11. Assignment of apps with filter based on tags and/or model

We have different sets of apps for iPhone and iPads. Right now I need to duplicate the device groups manually to be able to define which apps are supposed to be installed on iPhones and which on iPads.
Having tags at the apps or being able to restrict apps to certain types of models would be supercool. I used this a lot when using Jamf.

  12. Self-service VPP Apps

Some of the apps we distribute from VPP do not need to be installed on all Macs, but should be available for a user to install on demand.

Welding together Managed Software Center and VPP could be tricky, but maybe there could be application stubs in MSC that trigger API calls to SimpleMDM to install a VPP app on the device.

  13. Expose Custom App "Pre-stage priority" in API

The Custom App Screen (https://a.simplemdm.com/admin/apps/{APP_ID}) allows for a configurable "Pre-stage priority" for Device-level App Installation during DEP enrollment. This value has a pre-set range of 0-10 (inclusive) available in the UI.

Please update the Application API (https://a.simplemdm.com/api/v1/apps/) to:

    1. Expose the "Pre-stage Priority" value on all List/Retrieve responses for /api/v1/apps/
    2. Allow for setting the "Pre-stage Priority" during App Creation and App Update

    Background:

My organization is installing multiple Installer Packages during initial DEP enrollment, where some packages must be installed before others. We're currently managing this via manual uploads in the web console after our CI/CD process.…

  16. Improve Device Search with More Attributes

Currently device search only supports device name, serial number, IMEI, MAC, and phone number.

Scenarios where search doesn't return the results I need:
    - When I need to search by a custom attribute. For example, say I want to return all devices where the username attribute is "nathaniel.strauss". I am unable to since those attributes are not exposed in search. This is a common ask - "How many devices does x have?" The same holds true for any custom attribute set from SAML assertion - team, department, etc.
    - When the device name (SimpleMDM defined) doesn't match the Device Name…

  17. Filter and Sort Devices columns within the Enrollment section

When you go to the enrollment area of SimpleMDM and choose the enrollment method, in my case, the SimpleMDM Automated Enrollment using DEP. It will list ALL of the currently sync'd devices from ABM. This is a HUGE list and you cannot sort it or filter it whatsoever. I would like the option to filter by status, color, model, etc. as well as sort them all alphabetically.

An even bigger improvement for this requested feature would be if you add checkboxes to each line item so you can bulk update them to assign to a specific group, etc. This makes…

  19. Add "1 day" to the dropdown for "When a device hasn't been seen" notification

In your notifications section of the portal, I can select a minimum of 3
    days for the event lag:

When a device hasn't been seen for
    3 days

Please add an option for 1 day. Some of us need this for compliance with our security certs and auditors. Note that if someone sets this to 1 day and it's too "noisy" because people turn off their laptops on weekends or their device runs out of power during a
holiday, then they could always switch it back to 3 days.
