refresh multiple devices or groups
i would like to be able to select multiple of all devices and refresh their inventory instead of one by one
33 votesWhile this suggestion has a healthy number of votes, I'd like to better understand the problem this would solve. Devices refresh automatically on an hourly basis. Generally speaking, a manual refresh should not be necessary to apply changes - those should be queued automatically once saved in the UI. If you find yourself resorting to a manual refresh to get a change/update applied, I recommend contacting our support team. if this is still a concern, I'd prefer we solve the root of the problem than require additional steps to ensure that expected changes are applied.
It's been a few years since this post has received any votes/comments, so I'm going to close this for now. Please feel free to submit a new suggestion if there is a specific case where this could help and/or reach out to us if you'd like to discuss further. Thanks!

Build in native support for Nudge
As Mac admins, it's fair to say that the current state of patch management isn't great... and that Nudge is the go to open source tool to get devices patched in a timely fashion. I can also see that other vendors have actually integrated Nudge into their products.
It would be awesome if SimpleMDM would consider something similar - not least because of how well you've integrated Munki.
Selfishly it means I don't have to roll it out myself... ;)
25 votesI am marking this suggestion as declined since SimpleMDM now natively supports Apple's Managed Software Updates declarative configuration, which provides a very similar functionality. If you still feel strongly that a native Nudge integration (in addition to Managed Software Updates) would be highly valuable to you, please feel free to comment or send me an email directly with your justification.

Add more endpoints to SAML enrolments for full functionality
We are trying to implement our Azure B2C login for authentication into enrolments to help speed up onboarding new customers - we are an MSP.
When we set up SAML for access to the console, we can get it working fine; we can see and access the 'callback' and 'metadata' URL's ie.
https://a.simplemdm.com/admin/auth/saml/123456789123456789/callback
https://a.simplemdm.com/admin/auth/saml/123456789123456789/metadata - Azure B2C needs these address to function. But when we try to set this up for SAML enrolments, both the 'callback' and 'metadata' URL's aren't accessible for the new SAML Audience ie. https://a.simplemdm.com/device/enrollment/authentication/saml/987654321987654321.
Can this be enabled?

Add custom UID option to macOS account creation on enrollment
The option to skip Setup Assistant's prompt to create a user and create an admin provided account on enrollment is useful.
I'd like to see, if possible, the option to specify the UID of the account that gets created. We have environment specific needs for a specific UID for the account that isn't 501.
11 votesUnfortunately Apple's MDM spec does not currently provide us the ability to specify the UID of the account that gets created during Automated Enrollment (DEP) / Setup Assistant.
I will close this request for now, but we will continue to monitor Apple updates in case this option is added to the MDM spec at some point.

Hide Apps in the Catalog (and in the assignment drop downs as well)
I would like to see a feature that would allow me to "Hide" VPP Apps in the catalog, and thereby also hide them in the drop downs when assigning them.
The dilemma that I’m running into is that some apps vendors have issued completely new apps under the same name to replace an old one: For example, GoToMeeting and Sharefile both have “Old” and “New” apps in the system. I would like to hide the old ones in the catalog and the in the dropdowns so that I don’t accidentally assign them.
There are also apps that vendors no longer…

Include "less than macOS version" and "greater than macOS version" for profile scoping
It would be very helpful to be able to define "less than" and "greater than" macOS version when scoping profiles. For example, I would prefer to specify "less than macOS 12" for a profile to apply to all versions of macOS 11. As it is, I have to update the maximum OS version every time a new dot release comes out.
10 votesWith the release of Dynamic Groups (as well as Custom Declarations with Custom Predicates), I think this use-case should be solved. If you disagree, please let us know (preferably with details/examples) and we can re-open this. Thanks!

SimpleMDM granularity
Hi SimpleMDM Dev Team:
Thank you for allowing this space to share creative thought in the ongoing development of SimpleMDM. May some of my ideas have already been discussed, maybe not-- regardless I trust this will be taken into consideration.
Since the slow death of Apple's Profile Manager has left very little control to us in IT as Admins and Engineers, it would be nice to see SimpleMDM pick up the slack and not just fill in the gap but lead with the innovation of a few things in the macOS platform so that many of us can continue to…
8 votesWe appreciate the kind words and positive feedback! I'm closing this due to inactivity and since this covers many different features in one. There are several quality ideas here - it would be best to have these submitted as separate suggestions with richer details for each request (problem statements, example use-cases, etc). That way they can be voted on individually and it's easier for us to track, gauge impact, and prioritize. Some of these features may already be addressed since the time of the original post, and/or may or may not be as important now due to changes in the Apple ecosystem. Thanks!

Disable iOS power button
Allow the iPhone power button to be disabled so that the device can't be powered down if lost or stolen.
I'm aware that for now, this functionality is only available in jailbroken devices running Cydia tweaks, but it would be an awesome enhancement to have in the future.7 votesClosing due to inactivity (no votes/comments for 5+ years) and limitations of Apple MDM spec

API endpoint to request an updated location
We would like to use the API to do automatic location audits, however the location is often not as up to date as we would like. An API endpoint that mirrors the "update" button on the device map would be very helpful!

import a CSV containing device information for enrollment
We would like to see the ability to upload a CSV exported from our previous mobile device manager to send mass text messages with a group enrollment link.
Use Case: We currently have about 400 devices in the field that need to be remotely enrolled.
This is low priority, we will use the QR code to enroll all of the devices just fine. This is just an improvement suggestion for the future.7 votesClosing due to inactivity (no votes/comments for 5+ years) and available alternatives (ex. API)

Jailbreak detection
Jailbreak detection.
While everything I've read about this says it's not perfect, something would be better than nothing. Thanks.

make profile removal password protected without enrolling with DEP.
make profile removal password protected without enrolling with DEP.
Add the ability to never allow the user to remove the profile from their device.
now the option is only available if you enroll in Apples DEP.
would prefer having the option without enrollment.6 votesApple does not allow password-protected MDM profiles. DEP enrollment is the only current method of setting an MDM profile as unremovable.

Add column for updates on Devices screen
It would be good to see if a device has an update from the Devices Screen, rather than just when you go in to the device settings. This would be useful for non-DEP devices that are unable to have the auto update function enabled due to them not being enrolled in DEP.
Would be goot to be able to push the update from that screen also.
6 votesClosing due to inactivity (no votes/comments for 5+ years). The "update" option mentioned in original post won't be relevant in the future with the deprecation of legacy OS update commands. Surfacing DDM software update statuses in Devices list view might be a similar worthwhile request.

Allow IPA Binaries to be uploaded via url/plist instead of requiring an upload of a raw binary.
This will specifically be of help when interacting with SimpleMDM's API, allowing users to update/upload new apps without attaching large multipart forms.

Enable/disable + Configure SSID/passphrase for wifi hotspots
